BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:
The District 2 seat became vacant following Mayor Protem Nash-King filling the vacancy in the office of mayor. Section 26 of the City Charter provides that a vacancy on the Council shall be filled by a majority vote of the remaining members of the Council. The person selected must possess all of the qualifications of Section 23 of the Charter and be a bona fide resident of the district in which the vacancy occurs. The person selected will fulfill the unexpired term for District 2, which will be from the date of appointment to the election in May 2023.
The City Council solicited applications for the vacancy and conducted interviews with those interested on March 29, 2022.

Section 26 of the City Charter provides that a vacancy shall be filled under these circumstances.
