SUBJECT: Authorize the acquisition of multiple tracts of land to be used for public purposes
BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:
City staff received multiple requests to accept donations of various tracts of real property. Staff has been working with Gary Purser, Jr. since February 8, 2018 with regard to a number of properties to be donated to the City. On May 8, 2018, staff received the gifts for real estate packets from Gary Purser, Jr. identifying the tracts of land within Killeen city limits offered to be donated for the benefit of the City and its citizens.
City staff reviewed the list of properties identified to determine whether each tract could serve a legitimate public purpose. Several of the tracts were identified for potential drainage purposes, while others were identified as capable of being used for parks purposes.
Once staff identified the tracts which could be used for a public purpose, each tract was checked for liens and delinquent taxes, as well as being assessed for environmental hazards.
There are no liens, fees, and accrued interest on the following properties:
