SUBJECT: Contract for demolition and asbestos abatement of the 2-story apartment building located at 202 N. 24th Street
BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:
On March 17, 2025, a fire occurred at the apartment building located at 202 N. 24th St., which is owned by the Killeen Housing Authority.
On April 17, 2025, the building was determined to be a dangerous structure by the Construction Board of Appeals and was ordered to be demolished.
The following four (4) demolition contractors submitted qualifying proposals by the June 17th RFP deadline.
1. RNDI Companies, Inc.
2. Total Demolition, Inc.
3. Rise Up Construction, LLC
4. SERVPRO
They were evaluated and RNDI Companies, Inc. was selected with a score of 90.25, compared to 70 for the next highest score. RNDI Companies’ price proposal came in at $137,690 (with an additional $3,500 if a 2nd mobilization is required). Demolition is scheduled to begin on October 5, 2026.
