BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

The City of Killeen issued an invitation for bids for the demolition of eleven (11) structures (inclusive of the former Street Services Department) located at the Fleet Service Center, Little Nolan Road complex, with the intent to choose from eligible qualified contractors to perform demolition and restoration services.

 

DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION

 

On July 29, 2015, two (2) bids were received and read aloud at 3:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.  The design engineer and Public Works staff evaluated the bids for conformance with contract documents, contacted references, and recommend awarding the bid to AAR Incorporated, who is the lowest bidder at $52,690.00. 

 

FISCAL IMPACT

 

Funds for this project in the amount of $52,690.00 are available in the Fiscal Year 2014-2015, Drainage Utility Fund’s Minor Drainage Projects account, 575-3435-432.63-01. 

 

RECOMMENDATION

 

City staff recommends that the City Council award Bid #15-23 for the Fleet Service Center Building Demolition Project to AAR Incorporated in the amount of $52,690.00, and that the City Manager be expressly authorized to execute any and all change orders within the amounts set by state and local law.
