SUBJECT: Naming the Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport concourses
BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:
On November 1, 2022 the City Council issued a motion of direction to staff to name the Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport north concourse after General Robert M. Shoemaker and the south concourse after Mayor Timothy L. Hancock. The Killeen Fort Hood Regional Airport is located at 8101 Clear Creek Road. Both the north concourse and the south concourse are currently unnamed.
THE ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED:
The City Council has two options: they may decline to name one or both concourses, or they may approve naming the airport concourses after General Robert M. Shoemaker and Mayor Timothy L. Hancock.
Which alternative is recommended? Why?
Based on the City Council's November 1, 2022, motion of direction to staff to name the Fort Hood Regional Airport north concourse after General Robert M. Shoemaker and the south concourse after Mayor Timothy L. Hancock, staff recommends that the City Council consider naming the concourses after General Robert M. Shoemaker and Mayor Timothy L. Hancock.
