SUBJECT: Replace the Long Branch Park Pool House through Palomar Modular Buildings
BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:
The City of Killeen was awarded ARPA funds for parks projects, including $640,000 for the Long Branch Pool. During the FY 22/23 budget year $153,397.00 was utilized for emergency repairs on the pool. The remaining ARPA funds are allocated for replacement of the outdated and deteriorated pool house which was constructed in 1970 through Palomar Modular Buildings BuyBoard Cooperative Contract#732-24. The building is not enclosed, and the interior is exposed to the elements. Due to this, parts of the walls have been removed to repair constant plumbing issues. The roofing has deteriorated severely which has led to multiple leaks, and electrical is not up to code. Parks and Recreation staff will oversee the demolition of the deteriorated pool house. The new Pool House will be ADA accessible, climate controlled, include a lifeguard break area, and a concession area that will be fully enclosed. These amenities do not currently exist at the Long Branch Pool. This new Pool House will allow the City of Killeen to serve the community with a safe and improved aquatics facility.
