SUBJECT: Professional Service Agreement with Pape Dawson Engineers, LLC for the design of the Mohawk Drive Roadway Project
BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:
The Mohawk Drive Roadway Project was discussed at the City Council meeting on September 17, 2024, during the future bond discussion. During the meeting, the Council selected projects to be included in a Certificate of Obligation (CO) Bond for early 2025. The construction of Mohawk was included in those projects. The project is to construct a portion of Mohawk Drive between Bunny Trail and Castle Gap Drive.
On April 1, 2025, the City Council passed an ordinance to issue and sell CO bonds, Series 2025 for select Capital Projects. The construction for the portion of Mohawk Drive was included in those projects.
The project will include the construction of a 3-lane roadway with concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalks for the full length between Bunny Trail and Castle Gap Drive; underground drainage to include a new crossing of the drainage ditch that is a tributary of North Reece Creek; street lighting and street trees; and a water main for the full length of the project.
Staff requested a quote from Pape Dawson Engineers, LLC, for the design of this project based on their experience in designing similar projects, as well as working with the City of Killeen in the past. City staff negotiated a formal proposal with Pape Dawson Engineers, LLC, for the design of the Mohawk Road Construction project in the amount of $1,417,641.58.
