BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:
The City of Killeen has various citizen boards, commissions and committees that serve in an advisory capacity.
Per Texas Local Government Code (TLGC) Sec. 143.006, Implementation: Commission, a person appointed to the commission must not have held a public office within the preceding three years. On May 12, 2026, Charles Kimble was sworn in as the councilmember for District 2, making him ineligible to hold his seat on the Civil Service Commission.
In accordance with TLGC Sec. 143.006 the City Manager shall appoint a person to serve the remainder of the unexpired term in the same manner as the original appointment.
