BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Article V, the Budget, of the Charter of the City of Killeen requires the City Manager to submit to the City Council a proposed budget which shall provide a complete financial plan for the upcoming fiscal year.  The City Council calls a public hearing to elicit citizen comment on the proposed budget. After due deliberation, the Council may make such changes as deemed necessary.  By majority vote, the Council shall adopt the budget on or before the 20^th day of the last month of the fiscal year.

DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION

The City Manager has presented the FY 2016 Annual Budget and Plan of Municipal Services to the City Council.  One Town Hall meeting, several budget workshops and three public hearings were held so that the City Council, citizen and staff could discuss the proposed budget. A record vote is required to adopt the FY 2016 budget.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the attached ordinance be approved and a budget for Fiscal Year 2016 be adopted.
