SUBJECT: Five-Year Sponsorship Agreement with Rodeo Killeen
BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:
The Killeen Rodeo, organized by Killeen Volunteers, Inc., through its Rodeo Killeen Committee, has been a long-standing community tradition and one of the City’s signature tourism events. The event attracts visitors from across Central Texas and beyond while generating hotel stays, restaurant activity, retail spending, and increased visitation throughout the community.
Over the past two years, the City has partnered with Rodeo Killeen through annual sponsorship agreements funded by Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) funds. The partnership has supported the continued growth of the event while promoting tourism and enhancing Killeen’s visibility as a destination.
The proposed agreement establishes a five-year partnership beginning October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2031 (Fiscal Years 2027-2031), with an annual sponsorship amount of $50,000. The total sponsorship will be for $250,000.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the sponsorship agreement and authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute the sponsorship agreement with Killeen Volunteers, Inc., by and through Rodeo Killeen, for the Killeen Rodeo, in the total amount of $250,000.
