BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:

 

Matthew Grady was hired for this position on January 17, 2017.  Per City Charter Section 40, the City Council may appoint a City Auditor to carry out the internal audit functions as the City Council shall assign to him and the City Auditor shall be a Certified Public Accountant. The Council shall review the City Auditor’s job performance at least once annually and any pay increase shall be approved by resolution. On January 21, 2025, the mayor and City Council conducted the City Auditor's annual performance evaluation.

CONFORMITY TO CITY POLICY:

 

Texas Government Code sec. 40 provides that the governing body may appoint a City Auditor. The City Auditor shall carry out the internal audit functions, shall perform such other duties as the City Council shall assign to him and shall be a Certified Public Accountant

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

 

What is the amount of the revenue/expenditure in the current fiscal year? For future years?

 

 The City Auditor’s current annual salary is $108,000.05. Any additional COLA or merit-based increase would increase the total annual salary.

RECOMMENDATION:

 

Staff recommends that the Council pass a resolution to approve any salary increase, effective January 17, 2025, for City Auditor, Matthew Grady.
