SUBJECT: Amendment #1 to the Interlocal Agreement with CTCOG for Household Hazardous Waste Event
BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:
On March 26, 2024, the City Council approved CCM/R 24-058R; Interlocal Agreement with CTCOG for a contribution of $20,000 for the City of Killeen Recycling Operations Division to host an annual Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) event on May 4, 2024. The agreement required that the City reimburse CTCOG the difference between their dedicated $20,000 amount and the total event cost; up to an approved $45,000. Due to the success of the event, the total amount billed to CTCOG from Clean Earth was $75,369.75. Thereby, increasing the City’s contribution to $55,369.75, a $10,369.75 increase over the approved amount.
The HHW event that was held on May 4, 2024, at the Special Events Center, was the largest HHW event hosted by City of Killeen and CTCOG since June 2020.

Funds allocated for the HHW event in the FY 2024 budget are $62,830. Therefore, the funds are available to cover the additional cost of $10,369.75 for the event held on May 4, 2024, with City Council approval.

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council authorize the City Manager or his designee, to execute Amendment #1 to the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Killeen and the Central Texas Council of Governments (CTCOG) for $10,369.75 in additional funds to cover the amount for disposal at the HHW event that took place May 4, 2024.
