TO: Kent Cagle, City Manager

FROM: Peter C. Perez, Homeland Security & Emergency Management Director

SUBJECT: FY24 HSGP Award #4845101

BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) annually establishes National Priority Areas (NPA) for the Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) and requires the State to dedicate at least 30% of Texas' State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) funds to projects under the NPAs. Staff submitted a project under the NPA of Community Preparedness and Resilience. This grant application was awarded.

Allowable project costs include activities to inform the public on ways they can increase their resilience and prepare for the unexpected, such as billboard messaging, social media video creation, informing the public of actions to promote resilience, and providing continuity training.

City Staff applied for a total of $5,000.00 of regional funding through the Texas Office of the Governor eGrants system.
