SUBJECT: Authorize the execution of a Professional Services Agreement with Freese and Nichols to Design the Lift Station No. 6 Rehabilitation and Expansion Project
BACKGROUND AND FINDINGS:
The 2019 Water and Wastewater Master Plan includes projects R4S-rehabilitation and 11S- expansion of Lift Station No. 6, which is located at 3816 Water Street. These projects include architectural, electrical, and mechanical improvements; as well as expanding Lift Station No. 6 from its current capacity of 17.28mgd to a firm capacity of 24mgd. Lift Station #6 serves the northeastern part of the city.
City staff has negotiated a professional services agreement (PSA) with Freese and Nichols (FNI) for the design and construction administration of the Lift Station No. 6 Rehabilitation and Expansion Project in the amount of $624,677. FNI has provided exceptional design and contract administration on several past Water and Sewer infrastructure projects.
THE ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED:
(1) Do not authorize the professional services agreement with FNI; this will delay the design and construction of this critical sewer rehabilitation and Expansion project.
(2) Authorize the execution of the professional services agreement with FNI for the design and contract administration of the Lift Station No. 6 Rehabilitation and Expansion Project.
Which alternative is recommended? Why?
